The Seeker - Box 15

My friend David and I used to have deep, philisophical discussions during the course of our days working at Zabar's. We disagreed on many topics surrounding religion, politics and life in general, but that's what made the conversations stimulating - two people offering different points of view.

One evening after the store closed, I walked around and videotaped a number of my co-workers, talking with them, having fun and also providing a general tour of the store so that my dad and step-mom back home could see where I worked and how populated New York was with characters from all over the world.

When I got to David, after a few minutes of jovial nonsense, and a light back and forth, once he realized what the goal of my recording was, he offered up this declaration:

"We have these philisophical discussions because Joe is a thinker and a searcher of truth. And one of these days he's going to find it."

I made this box for David - named 'The Seeker' in reference to that ambitious and very complimentary statement. As I am older now, I like to think we are all still searching for the truth. Curiousity is a great motivator. So I don't think that the search ever ends. The journey is the important part.

Cheers, David.
